Selden was farm country called Westfield until 1852, when it took the name of attorney Henry Selden. The big change came in the 1950s, when suburban development turned the fields into the neighborhoods most families know today. That means a lot of Selden streets are lined with homes built in the same era, and that is exactly where a thoughtful holiday light design makes a house stand out. Our Basic package puts C9 LED lighting along the front-facing gutters and peaks, while Deluxe runs the full roofline, including ridges, dormers and gables, with custom color patterns, a power extension and a timer so the display turns itself on each evening.
Selden also sits high on the Ronkonkoma Moraine. Telescope Hill, the highest point in the Town of Brookhaven, rises on the edge of the hamlet, and homes on the hillier streets near the Bicycle Path catch more winter wind than you might expect this far from the water. We fasten every run with commercial-grade clips and come back to replace bulbs during the season. Along Middle Country Road, the shopping plazas and storefronts can get a commercial display as well. The Ammerman Campus of Suffolk County Community College anchors the neighborhood along Nicolls Road, the historic Bicycle Path winds over the hills, and Telescope Hill and nearby Bald Hill give the area some of the highest ground in Brookhaven. Suffolk County Community College, Ammerman CampusThe college's first and largest campus opened in Selden in 1961 on the grounds of a former tuberculosis sanitarium, and it is still a landmark of the hamlet.
Telescope HillAt 334 feet, this hill on the Selden and Farmingville border is the highest point in the Town of Brookhaven and once held a fire lookout tower.
Bicycle PathThis road follows the route of a cross-island bike path from the 1890s, winding through Selden's hills on its way north toward Port Jefferson Station.

Which package fits a typical Selden home from the 1950s or 1960s?
Many homes from Selden's suburban build-out look great with our Basic package, which lights the front-facing gutters and peaks with C9 LED bulbs. If you want the whole roofline done, including ridges, dormers and gables, Deluxe covers it and adds custom color patterns, a power extension and a timer.
Can you light a storefront on Middle Country Road?
Yes. We handle commercial installations as well as homes, from the design through takedown and storage. A lit storefront or plaza facade along Route 25 is a great way to draw shoppers during the holiday season. Call our Suffolk line to talk through your building and set up an install date.
Do you use a timer, or do I have to plug the lights in each night?
Our Deluxe and Premium packages include a power extension and a timer, so your display turns on and off by itself every evening. That is especially handy for busy Selden households and for anyone who travels during the holidays. If you have questions about your outlets or setup, just call us.
What happens to my lights after the holidays?
We take care of it. Takedown and storage are included, so once the season ends we remove your display and store it until next year. You will not need to climb a ladder in January or find space in the garage. Call 631-515-7882 Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm or weekends 10am to 6pm.
