Malverne calls itself the Mayberry of Long Island, and the name fits. Barely more than a square mile, the village has its own police and fire departments, a library, a walkable center near Church Street and the Malverne LIRR station, and a strong sense of community that really shows in December. Holiday lighting in a village like this is about adding to the small-town feel rather than competing with it. We design warm, classic displays that suit Malverne's established streets, tracing gutters and peaks with C9 LED lights and adding wreaths and garlands that look right on a traditional front door.
Originally known as Norwood, Malverne was incorporated in 1921 and developed on former farmland as the railroad arrived, so much of its housing dates to the early and mid twentieth century, with mature trees and well-kept front yards. Those trees are perfect for wrapping, and those yards are ideal for lit hedges and walkway borders, all part of our Premium package. Deluxe covers the full roofline, including ridges, dormers, and gables, plus custom color patterns and a timer. Every package includes maintenance through the season, takedown, and storage, so your display stays bright and you never have to haul boxes to the attic.

Around Malverne: Village Spots That Glow in December
Each year the village celebrates the Lighting of Malverne, with a tree lighting ceremony and a breakfast with Santa that bring neighbors together. The village's compact center around Church Street, Hempstead Avenue, and the train station feels like a classic small town, and the residential blocks around it stretch out toward Hempstead Lake State Park and neighboring Lynbrook. It is the kind of place where a thoughtfully lit house becomes part of everyone's evening walk.
Incorporated Village of MalverneThe village website shares news about the Lighting of Malverne and other community events, along with village hall information on Church Street.
Malverne StationThe oldest surviving station on the West Hempstead Branch sits at Hempstead Avenue near Church Street and village hall.
Hempstead Lake State ParkNassau County's largest lake, its trails, and a historic carousel sit just east of the village.
Village of LynbrookMalverne's neighbor to the south shares its tree-lined, close-knit residential character.

Malverne Holiday Lighting FAQs
Can you have our Malverne home lit in time for the Lighting of Malverne?
We typically install within 48 hours of booking, so there is usually time to be glowing for the village's tree lighting and holiday events. Booking earlier in the season gives you the widest choice of install dates. Call 516-588-8259 to check availability.
We want a classic look that fits the neighborhood. What do you recommend?
Many Malverne homeowners choose warm-white C9 LED lights along the gutters and peaks, with wreaths and garlands at the front door. Our Basic package covers the front-facing roofline, and Premium adds wreaths, garlands, bows, and lit walkway borders. Our custom design service helps you pick a look that feels right for your street.
We have big old trees in the front yard. Can you light them?
Yes. Tree wrapping on both trunks and branches is part of our Premium package. Malverne's mature street and yard trees make a beautiful backdrop, and wrapping one or two near the house can frame the whole display. Call us and we will help decide which trees will make the biggest impact.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, Dr. Glow is licensed and insured, and last year we decorated more than 500 homes across Long Island. Our crews handle the ladder work, so you and your family stay safely on the ground. Maintenance through the season, takedown, and storage are included with every package.
Where do my lights go after the holidays?
After the season, we take down your display and store it for you, and storage is included. That is a real help in smaller village homes where closets, attics, and garages fill up fast. When next season comes, your display is ready to go back up.
