Merrick takes its name from the Algonquin word Meroke, often translated as oyster bed, and water is still a big part of the community. More than a square mile of Merrick's area is water, and south of Merrick Road many streets run along canals and inlets that open toward the bay. I live on a canal south of Merrick Road. How do you handle the wind?
Canal and bayfront homes get more wind and salt air than inland streets, so we secure every strand with commercial-grade clips and route power carefully. Maintenance is included for the whole season, so if something shifts during a storm or a bulb goes out, call 516-588-8259 and we will come back to fix it.
Can you decorate the trees and hedges in my Merrick front yard?
Yes. Our Premium package includes nets or string lights on bushes and hedges, tree wrapping on trunks and branches, wreaths, garlands and bows, driveway and walkway borders, and specialty decor like icicles, snowflakes and yard displays. It also includes a full design consultation, so we plan the entire yard together.
Do I need to be home for the installation?
That depends on your property, such as whether we need access to a backyard or an outdoor outlet. The best approach is to call us when you book, and we will go over access, timing and power with you. Most Merrick installs are scheduled within about 48 hours of booking.
Can my Merrick display run on a timer?
Yes. The Deluxe package includes a power extension and a timer so your lights turn on and off automatically on a set schedule. The Premium package includes the same. If you have questions about your outlets or where the timer will go, call us and we will walk you through it.
Do you take the lights down and store them after the season?
Yes. Takedown and storage are part of our service. After the holidays we remove everything and store it for you until next season, so your garage and attic stay clear. If you have a preferred takedown window, just let us know when you call.
