Sound Beach lives up to its name. The hamlet on the north edge of the Town of Brookhaven was established in 1929 and runs right up to Long Island Sound, where sandy beaches sit beneath cliffs that turn rockier along the shore. Residents share private beach access, parkland and a clubhouse through the Sound Beach Property Owners Association, and the small downtown known as The Square gathers around Sound Beach Boulevard and New York Avenue. Holiday lighting here has to handle the weather that comes with that location, and we plan for it from the first design sketch.
Winter wind off the Sound can loosen lights that are hung with the wrong hardware, so we secure every C9 run with commercial-grade clips and keep an eye on your display through the season with included maintenance. For many Sound Beach homes, the Basic package's front-facing gutter and peak lighting is all it takes to look festive, while Deluxe covers the whole roofline with custom color patterns, a power extension and a timer. Sound Beach sits between two North Shore neighbors with deep roots. To the west, Miller Place keeps Brookhaven's first historic district along North Country Road, and to the east, Rocky Point has a colonial-era homestead and wooded pine barrens. Will my lights stay up in the wind off the Sound?
Sound Beach homes near the bluffs get real winter wind, so we fasten every run with commercial-grade clips instead of light-duty hooks. Maintenance is included all season. If a gust knocks a section loose or a bulb goes out, call 631-515-7882 and we will come out to take care of it.
Is the Basic package enough for a smaller Sound Beach home?
For many homes, yes. Basic includes C9 LED lighting on the front-facing gutters and peaks, commercial-grade clips, season maintenance, and takedown and storage. If you would like the sides and back lit too, or custom color patterns and a timer, the Deluxe package covers the full roofline.
Can you add lights to the hedges and front walk?
Yes. Our Premium package includes bushes and hedges with nets or string lights, tree wrapping, driveway and walkway borders, wreaths, garlands and bows, and specialty décor like icicles and snowflakes, on top of the full roofline. It also comes with a full design consultation so everything works together.
How soon can you install lights in Sound Beach?
We typically install within 48 hours of booking. The weeks around Thanksgiving are busy, so if you want your lights up by a certain date, call early. Our Suffolk office is open Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 6pm at 631-515-7882.
I do not have room to store lights. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Storage is included. After the season, we take your display down and store it until next year, so you do not need garage or basement space for bins of lights. When the next holiday season comes around, call us to schedule your install.
